Community Access to Literacy and Learning (CALL) Program:

Adult volunteers needed for one on one and small group tutoring of adult learners wanting to upgrade their reading, writing, English language, basic computer or basic numeracy skills.
Tutor training and ongoing support provided.
Must be able to provide 2-4 hours of volunteering per week.

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC):

We are looking for volunteers to assist LINC teachers with classroom activities, including individual, small group, or general classroom assistance.

Host Program:

The Host Program at Abbotsford Community Services is looking for men and women to volunteer with English conversation circles and a one-on-one friendship-based program for newcomers to Canada.
The time commitment is approximately 1-2 hours per week.

Moving Ahead Program (MAP):

We are looking for highly motivated volunteer tutors who are enthusiastic about language, literacy and culture!
As a Literacy Tutor with the Moving Ahead Program, you will work with adult learners in one-on-one or small group sessions.
Many of our learners are recently arrived immigrants and refugees with limited formal education.
We also work with adults who have special learning needs.

Reading Buddies:

Reading Buddies is a program of Literacy Matters Abbotsford, Abbotsford’s community literacy network. This program supports children in grades 1 to 4 who are working to improve their reading.
Big Buddy volunteers are matched with Little Buddies for a one-on-one session weekly session at the library. Within the one hour sessions, Little Buddies discover the joy and fun of reading while building their confidence; Big Buddies act as mentors while fostering a love of books in the children.
